Website setup

Add your AI assistant to your website

Paste one short piece of code, and your assistant answers visitors 24/7. It takes about 5 minutes and works on WordPress, Wix, Squarespace, Webflow and most other websites. No coding skills needed.

1

Copy your install code

It's in your welcome email. Copy all of it, from the first <script to the last </script>, without changing anything.

<script src="https://assistant.contractorcaptain.com/…"></script>

You can add it right away. Your assistant appears on your site once we activate it, usually within 1–2 business days. Until then, nothing shows on your site. That's normal.

2

Paste it into your website

Pick your website builder and follow the three steps.

A

WordPress

  1. In your WordPress admin, go to Plugins → Add New, search WPCode, then Install and Activate.
  2. Go to Code Snippets → Header & Footer.
  3. Paste your code into the Footer box and click Save Changes.
B

Wix

  1. In your site dashboard, go to Settings → Custom Code (under Development & integrations).
  2. Click + Add Custom Code and paste your code.
  3. Choose All pages, place it in Body – end, then click Apply.
C

Squarespace

  1. In your site dashboard, search for Code Injection and open it.
  2. Paste your code into the Footer box.
  3. Click Save.
D

Webflow

  1. Open Site settings → Custom code.
  2. Paste your code into Footer code and click Save changes.
  3. Publish your site. The assistant only shows on the published site.

Another website, or a web developer?

Paste the code on every page, just before the closing </body> tag. Or forward this page and your install code to whoever looks after your website.

3

Check it's live

  1. Once your assistant is activated, open your website in a private browser window.
  2. Look for the chat button and send a test message.
  3. Your test lead appears in your dashboard.

Prefer we install it for you?

As a courtesy, we can paste your install code for you. Reply to your welcome email or email support@contractorcaptain.com and we'll set up temporary collaborator access, so there's no need to send your password. We only add the install code and don't change anything else on your site. Please back up your site first; your website and its hosting remain your responsibility.
